Official spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmail Baghaei stated that Tehran and Washington have not yet moved closer to an agreement on ending the conflict.

As reported by the Tasnim agency, the diplomat noted that the sides have not reached a stage where one can speak of being close to a deal.

According to him, the key issue in the negotiations remains the cessation of hostilities.

Baghaei also commented on the visit of Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir to Tehran, stating that the intensification of contacts with foreign delegations is part of the diplomatic process.

In addition, he reported that a delegation from Qatar is holding consultations with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, however, according to him, Pakistan continues to play the mediating role in the negotiations with the United States.
