Ben Affleck will direct a documentary about the legendary Formula 1 designer
Legendary Formula 1 engineer Adrian Newey has agreed to become the central character of a documentary film dedicated to his work with the Aston Martin team. The project will be handled by Hollywood actor Ben Affleck and Mark Stewart - the son of three-time world champion Jackie Stewart.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to foreign media, Newey, who joined Aston Martin as a technical partner in March this year, will be the main character of the film with the working title Turbulence: The Greatest Mind in F1.
"When Mark Stewart proposed creating a documentary, I was pleasantly surprised, but initially doubted whether I should participate. However, after the release of my autobiography in 2017, I received numerous letters from people who were inspired by it and whose interest in racing car design and engineering was awakened. I hope the film will be able to convey the passion, work approach and power of thought needed to create a Formula 1 car," Racing News 365 quotes Newey.
The engineer also emphasized that the film will show the difficulties he faced when transitioning to a new team on the eve of major changes to Formula 1 regulations planned for 2026.
"This is a story about a living legend whose unique career is built on ambition and a constant desire for something new. It is these human qualities that we want to reveal in our project," noted Ben Affleck, who is producing through his company Artists Equity.
