Earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 registered off the coast of Japan.

This was reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.

According to its data, the epicenter was located 128 km northeast of the city of Kagoshima, where more than 550 thousand people live. The focus was at a depth of 37 km.

No information about casualties or destruction has been received. No tsunami threat was declared.
