American dollar fell to a three-year low
The dollar index, reflecting the strength of the American currency against major world currencies, fell below 98 points for the first time since March 2022.
This is according to CNBC data.
At its minimum, the indicator reached a level of 97.92 points. The index is formed based on the exchange rates of six currencies of US trading partners: the euro, yen, pound sterling, Canadian dollar, Swedish krona, and Swiss franc.
Earlier, Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election triggered a rapid growth of the index - at its peak it reached 110.18 points. However, after the inauguration and the first steps of the new president, the value began to decline, and the trade war that started with most countries of the world accelerated the index's fall.
