A meteorite fall followed by explosion occurred off the coast of Indonesia
A large meteorite fell into the Java Sea off the coast of Indonesia, causing a bright flash and a loud explosion. This is reported by the Jakarta Globe newspaper, citing data from the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN).
It is noted that on October 5, the meteorite was recorded over the cities of Kuningan and Cirebon at 18:35-18:39 (15:35 and 15:39 Baku time). The fall of the unknown object into the sea was confirmed by CCTV footage.
The flash and explosion do not threaten the population, clarified one of the BRIN astronomers. After the meteorite fall, experts detected strong tremors.
