The main race of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix has started in Baku.
As Report informs, the start was given at 15:00.
The day before, the best qualifying result was shown by Mercedes driver George Russell.
The drivers have to complete 51 laps on a track with 20 turns. The total race distance is 306.049 km.
The first Formula 1 event in Baku was held in 2016 under the name Grand Prix of Europe. Nico Rosberg won that race. In 2017, Daniel Ricciardo finished first, in 2018 - Lewis Hamilton, and in 2019 - Valtteri Bottas. In 2020, the race was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.
After the resumption of the competition in Baku, the winners were Sergio Perez in 2021, Max Verstappen in 2022, and Perez again in 2023. In 2024, Oscar Piastri won, and in 2025 - Verstappen.
Before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the drivers' standings are led by Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli with 292 points. His teammate George Russell is second with 211 points, and Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton is third with 191 points.
In the Constructors' Championship, Mercedes was leading with 503 points. Ferrari has 358 points, and McLaren has 306.
