When will Wi-Fi appear in the Baku metro? - STATEMENT

In the modern world, internet access in public transport is becoming not a luxury, but a necessity. In many metropolises around the world, metro passengers have long been using free Wi-Fi both at stations and in train carriages. Moscow, Seoul, and Beijing provide full internet coverage of their underground transportation systems, while New York, London, and Toronto provide access primarily at stations.

The story of implementing Wi-Fi in the Baku metro resembles a long-running series with an unclear ending. This issue has been raised repeatedly over the past few years, but there are still no concrete results. Currently, large-scale repair and restoration work is being carried out at many metro stations in Baku, which has once again brought the issue of technological modernization of the underground to the forefront.

In response to a request from Metbuat.az, representatives of the press service of Baku Metro CJSC reported that the issue of implementing a Wi-Fi network in the metro will be considered after the completion of a comprehensive assessment, taking into account technical capabilities, infrastructure condition, and other significant factors.
