Pedestrian hit several meters from a crosswalk in Baku - CIUT statement

The Center for Intelligent Transport Management (CITM) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan has distributed information about a traffic accident involving a pedestrian.
Thus, another such incident was recorded yesterday in the evening at the intersection of Samed Vurgun and Fizuli streets in the Nasimi district. A pedestrian who decided to run across the road a few meters away from the crossing was hit by a car.
The message emphasizes that pedestrians should use specially equipped crossings, be attentive and cross the road only after making sure that vehicles are yielding to them. Unfortunately, non-compliance with these vital rules leads to traffic accidents involving pedestrians.
CITM addresses both pedestrians and drivers:
"1. Pedestrians should not run across the road in front of cars. This is extremely dangerous!
2. Don't think you can do without a crossing. Pedestrians most often become victims of accidents outside pedestrian crossing zones. Cross the road only at pedestrian crossings!
3. Crossing the road at traffic lights without waiting for the green signal is dangerous!
4. Drivers should reduce speed when approaching crossings and give way to pedestrians. They should be attentive to the most vulnerable road users.
The safety of each road user is in their own hands. To ensure this, it is necessary to follow the rules".
