In Baku, a building that was under construction for 11 years has been demolished: what will happen to the apartment owners?

Eight families who purchased apartments in a building on K.Kerimov Street in the Khatai district of Baku back in 2014 have faced a problem. The building, which took 11 years to construct, has been demolished, and citizens were not provided with alternative housing.
According to the official version, the house was declared unsafe. The Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the technical assessment of the two-block three-story building was conducted in January 2025 at the request of local authorities.
According to one of the victims, she was offered a refund, but she refused. "The daughter of businessman Saday Ahmedov called me and said: 'Come, take your money, let's cancel the deed.' I replied that the amount paid in 2014 does not correspond to the current value, and I refused. In response, she threatened to demolish the house, which she did," the woman recounts.
Commenting on the situation, the Executive Authority of the Khatai district stated that a new building will be erected on the site of the demolished house, and residents will be provided with apartments.
