Azerbaijan did not allow the extradition of its citizen to Kuwait

Azerbaijani citizen detained in Germany at Kuwait's request released after active diplomatic and legal efforts.
As reported by BAKU.WS, attorney Mukhtar Mustafayev informed Report about this.
He emphasized that the Azerbaijani state protects its citizens not only in Russia but also in countries like Germany.
"For almost three months, my colleague Elchin Usub and I have been working on the case of an Azerbaijani citizen of Arab origin, Abu Nahle Khaled Abdel Hadi, whom the German authorities wanted to extradite to Kuwait," he said.
Mustafayev noted that Abu Nahle Khaled was detained during transit through Frankfurt Airport based on an international wanted notice issued by Kuwait.
He is a citizen of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Jordan. Despite the fact that the courts of first instance and appeal in Kuwait acquitted him, recognizing the charges against him as unfounded, the Supreme Court of Kuwait sentenced him to imprisonment. These decisions were made without ensuring Abu Nahle Khaled's participation in the process.
"In addition, territorial jurisdiction was grossly violated. My colleague Elchin Usub, who knows German law perfectly, brought in local attorneys Yannick Hübner and Manuel Operhalsky for the defense. The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice of Azerbaijan provided serious support in this case. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Germany provided consular protection for our citizen, and the Ministry of Justice promptly provided all necessary answers and documents in response to our inquiries related to this case," he added.
According to Mustafayev, a detailed conclusion was presented regarding the unjustified arrest of Abu Nahle Khaled and the impossibility of his extradition to Kuwait according to the requirements of the European Convention on Extradition, ratified by Azerbaijan and Germany.
"Our long struggle successfully concluded, and on July 22, the Supreme Prosecutor's Office of Frankfurt am Main decided to immediately release Abu Nahle Khaled due to the lack of grounds for his extradition," emphasized Mukhtar Mustafayev.
