The Azerbaijani delegation, headed by Azerbaijan's Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov, participated in the "Distinguished Observer Day" during the multinational joint exercise EFES-2026, held in the Doğanbey area of the Turkish city of Izmir.

Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, General of the Army Metin Tokel, reported on the overall progress of the exercise, the objectives of the assigned tasks, and the sequence of their execution.

It was noted that during the EFES-2026 exercise, for the first time, T625 GÖKBEY helicopters, 105-mm towed Boran howitzers, MEMATT demining systems, KARAOK, UMTAS, and L-UMTAS anti-tank missile systems, as well as unmanned, ground-based, remotely controlled reconnaissance and fire systems ASLAN SARP UKKS were employed.

Turkey's Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler emphasized in his speech the importance of such exercises and wished the military personnel success.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who spoke at the event, greeted the participants of the "Distinguished Observer Day" and highlighted the significant contribution of the EFES-2026 exercise to ensuring regional and global peace, tranquility, and stability.

Subsequently, the units involved in the exercise carried out various tactical episodes.

Senior officials observed demonstration flights of aircraft, parachute jumps by special forces, and a performance by the "Mehteran" ensemble.

As part of the "Distinguished Observer Day," the guests visited the defense industry exhibition and familiarized themselves with the displayed samples of weapons and military equipment.

The professionalism of the military personnel participating in the international exercise was highly commended.
