Yagub Mahmudov: It is necessary to abandon the term "Turkic-speaking states"
Advisor to the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) Yagub Mahmudov declared the need to stop using the term "Turkic-speaking states."
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, he made this statement during the organization's general assembly dedicated to the results of 2025.
According to Mahmudov, today a decisive stage has arrived in the history of the Turkic world, and Azerbaijan holds a leading position in this process:
"I want to address this from this podium. The expression 'Turkic-speaking states' should be abandoned. The Organization of Turkic States has already been established, and this concept is not equivalent to 'Turkic-speaking states.' Otherwise, it creates the impression that we are not Turks, but that this language was simply put into our mouths," the scholar noted.
