Why did Ramiz Mehdiyev's lawyers withdraw the complaints?

Lawyers of Ramiz Mehdiyev, accused of serious crimes against the state, have withdrawn previously filed appeals.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Qafqazinfo, the withdrawal of appeals by Ramiz Mehdiyev's lawyers occurred after his well-known letter appeared in the media.

The publication of this letter presented the defense with a fait accompli. Seeing the futility of the appeals, the defense withdrew them.

R. Mehdiyev filed appeals against investigative actions even before being placed under house arrest. The documents contained in the decisions that were hastily appealed by R. Mehdiyev's lawyers are of significant importance to the criminal case.

Among them is the decision of the Sabail District Court dated August 13, 2025, which authorized the conduct of comprehensive operational and technical measures against Ramiz Mehdiyev. Based on another decision, the interception of information transmitted through communication channels was carried out, and operational search activities were conducted at the Şərq-Qərb publishing house and other addresses. From other materials, it becomes clear that R. Mehdiyev had been exposed for a long time, and appropriate work was being conducted against him.

Note that Ramiz Mehdiyev, in addition to a state-appointed lawyer, hired two more defenders. Neither he himself, nor members of his family, nor his lawyers have yet commented on the charges against him. Yesterday, Eldar Amirov was arrested in the same criminal case for participating in an attempted coup. He is a former employee of the Presidential Administration, head of the secretariat of ANAS, known for his closeness to Mehdiyev and effectively managing the processes at ANAS on behalf of R. Mehdiyev.
