The premiere of the performance "Gyulchohra and Asker" took place at the Academic Musical Theater
On November 18, the premiere of the play "Gulchokhra and Asker," based on the play of the same name by national writer Kamal Abdulla, was held at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater. The performance was attended by the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva, Arzu Aliyeva and Alyona Aliyeva.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the two-part musical drama "Gulchokhra and Asker" is a continuation of the great Uzeyir Hajibeyov's work "Arshin Mal Alan."
The composer of the new stage production, Honored Art Worker Javanshir Guliyev, told journalists that they approached the production differently. "Unlike 'Arshin Mal Alan,' this work does not end happily. The plot is unpredictable and keeps the audience in suspense throughout. Therefore, it was both an interesting and valuable experience," added the composer.
The performer of the role of Asker in both "Arshin Mal Alan" and "Gulchokhra and Asker," Presidential Award laureate Samedzade Khasiyev emphasized the distinctive nature of both roles. Noting that the creative team worked on the performance for a long time, he said: "Asker's cheerful and romantic side in the musical comedy and his dramatic fate in the new work open up wide opportunities for me as an actor to express myself. Working on this role is both responsible and valuable from a creative perspective. Asker and Gulchokhra create the image of an entire era against the backdrop of the upheavals they experienced during dark and harsh periods of history. Asker's years of suffering in Siberia and Gulchokhra's desperate waiting for him is not only a story of unfortunate love but also an artistic chronicle reflecting the memory, fighting spirit, and unwavering nature of the people."
Elnara Nagdaliyeva, who played the role of Telli in the two-part musical drama, noted that her character is a compassionate and cheerful woman. "I tried to convey the inner strength and gentle nature of the heroine to the audience. Telli is distinguished by her loyalty to her master and mistress. Despite all the tension, dangers, and difficulties, she does not leave them alone but embarks with them on a challenging journey that extends to Iran, Istanbul, and then France," added the actress.
Maryam Alizade, an Honored Art Worker who attended the performance of "Gulchokhra and Asker," was impressed by the production: "The play masterfully reflects the political and social events that took place during the period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, especially the bitter consequences of the material and moral blows inflicted on our country by the Bolsheviks. The complex fate of Gulchokhra and Asker is presented in the performance with high artistic skill and makes a strong emotional impression on the audience."
The stage director of the performance is Asker Askerov, conductor - Fakhraddin Atayev, choreographer - Nigar Shahmuradova, choirmaster - Vagif Mastanov.
The production featured Honored Artists Azizaga Azizov, Ilgar Salamov, Presidential Award laureates Samedzade Khasiyev, Mehriban Zaliyeva, Atilla Mamedov, actors Faig Mirzoyev, Gultaj Alili, Gulnara Abdullayeva, Elnara Nagdaliyeva, Ibrahim Alizade, Elchin Imanov, Elkhan Ismayilov, Ali Kerimov, Orkhan Huseynov, Kamil Jafarov, Nijat Habibov, as well as choir and ballet artists.
