The friendship between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan plays a special role in the relations between the two countries - OPINION

The interview of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan contains important political messages reflecting the high level of relations between the two brotherly countries, the achieved results, and prospects for further cooperation.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated to Report by Member of the Milli Majlis Sabina Salmanova.

The deputy noted that the thoughts expressed by the head of state in the interview once again demonstrate that Azerbaijani-Uzbek ties are not limited to the framework of interstate relations.

"In recent years, the intensification of political dialogue and the growth of mutual visits and contacts at the highest level have further strengthened the atmosphere of trust between the two countries. As a result, Azerbaijani-Uzbek ties have risen from strategic partnership to the level of alliance, and these relations have acquired an entirely new substance."

In her opinion, the friendly relations between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, hold special significance in this process. "The relations between the heads of state, based on mutual respect and trust, make an important contribution to the development of political ties between the two countries, the identification of new areas of cooperation, and the successful implementation of existing projects. Mutual visits by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are one of the most important indicators of the dynamic development of relations," she said.

The deputy stated that the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries serves the implementation of new projects and the further deepening of ties between the peoples.

The Member of the Milli Majlis believes that cooperation in the sphere of transport and logistics gives Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations regional and international significance:

"Azerbaijan, as an important link in the East-West and North-South transport corridors, plays an important role in expanding Uzbekistan's access to European markets. The enhancement of the Middle Corridor's capabilities more closely connects the transport and logistics potential of the two countries and gives new impetus to the economic integration of the Turkic world."

Salmanova stated that the restoration of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur holds an important place in Azerbaijani-Uzbek cooperation:

"The brotherly support provided by Uzbekistan in the process of restoring Azerbaijan's territories liberated from occupation is a vivid example of the sincerity of our relations. The Mirza Ulugbek school, built on Uzbekistan's initiative in the city of Fuzuli, is one of the most striking examples of this. This educational institution is not merely a modern school building, but a symbol of brotherhood, solidarity, and the shared vision of the future of the peoples of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan."
