The Ascent to Victory: How the Impregnable Shusha Was Captured
The liberation of Shusha city became a symbol of victory, forever etched in the memory of the nation.
It was not just the return of a strategic point, but the liberation of the spirit, pride, and cultural heritage of an entire people.
For Azerbaijan, this event marked the end of an entire era and the beginning of a new stage - the return of a lost cultural center, the revival of the spirit of freedom.
The city, surrounded by complex terrain and steep cliffs, was liberated thanks to the mobile tactics and courage of the Azerbaijani army. The key moments of the operation to liberate the cultural capital of our country were the covert advancement through forests, precise aviation and artillery strikes that allowed taking control of Sykhnag and Dashalti.
As a result of the planned military operation conducted in late October - early November, Shusha was surrounded from three directions and cleared of the enemy in the shortest time.
In the final stage, Armenian units made several counterattacks attempting to regain control of Shusha. Cloudy and foggy weather limited the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, hampering artillery and air support for special forces in the city.
One of the most difficult challenges of the operation was the necessity to protect the hometown from artillery strikes. Despite this, Azerbaijani soldiers fought in close combat with will and courage, defending Shusha. It was a triumph of both tactical mastery and strength of spirit.
