The 9th anniversary of the historic April battles has been marked

According to the annual plan of events approved by the Minister of Defense, a number of events were held in the military branches, formations and units of the Azerbaijani army, as well as in special military educational institutions on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the victory in the April 2016 battles.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.

Military personnel, participants of the April battles, families of martyrs and public representatives visited the Alleys of Martyrs, laid flowers on the graves of martyrs and honored their bright memory.

At the events, first a minute of silence was observed in memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

The speakers at the events gave a detailed account of the causes of the battles that began as a result of provocations by the Armenian armed forces on the night of April 1-2, 2016, and the historical significance of the successful counteroffensive operation carried out by the Azerbaijani army.

It was emphasized that the victory in the April battles is inscribed in golden letters in the history of our statehood. It was noted that this victory laid the foundation for the victories in the Gunnut operation, Tovuz battles, the Patriotic War, including anti-terrorist measures, and the great Victory achieved under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

In the artistic part of the event, documentary films were shown, poems were recited, musical performances and literary-musical compositions on patriotic themes were presented, and battle participants shared their memories.

Military personnel visited the families of martyrs and inquired about their needs, and also paid respects to the memory of their comrades.
