Presidents of Azerbaijan and UAE visited the Shusha branch of the National Carpet Museum

On September 16, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the Shusha branch of the National Carpet Museum.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the distinguished guest was informed about the activities of the branch.
It was noted that the building of the Shusha branch of the National Carpet Museum, built in the second half of the 19th century, is located in the upper quarter of the city. During the occupation period, the building fell into disrepair, its historical appearance was altered, so in 2021 the Heydar Aliyev Foundation began restoration work here.
Considering the threat hanging over the exhibits stored in the branch during the Armenian occupation of Karabakh lands, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum organized their evacuation on February 29, 1992. 183 out of 246 exhibits from the Shusha branch collection were delivered to Baku. During the occupation of the city, the Shusha branch continued its activities at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.
Currently, along with the exhibits evacuated at the time, dating from the 18th-20th centuries, valuable carpets that have been added to the branch's collection in recent years are also displayed. The museum once again showcases 115 pile and flat-woven carpets, carpet products, archaeological materials, national embroidery and costumes, jewelry, and samples of artistic metal embossing.
