Ilham Aliyev: We have never waged war against unarmed civilian population, and this has elevated our nation even more

Even during the Patriotic War, when our cities and villages were being bombarded by the Armenian state, I said that we are Azerbaijanis, and we are waging and will wage war according to the laws of war.

As reported by AZERTAC, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated this during a meeting with representatives of the public of the Khojaly district.

"Unlike the Armenians, we never waged war against innocent, unarmed civilian populations, and this has elevated our people even more. Today our people and state are respected for this as well, among other things. At that time, I said that we would take our revenge on the battlefield. And we took our revenge. We avenged all our martyrs. And for their families and loved ones, this is a certain consolation. May Allah rest the souls of all the martyrs! We will forever keep their memory in our hearts. We will never forget either the Khojaly genocide or other war crimes committed against us by the Armenian state. We must always be and will be strong so that such tragedies never happen again," the head of state added.
