The independence of the Azerbaijani press is one of the key conditions for the development of our society.

As reported by AZERTAG, this was stated in the congratulatory message of President Ilham Aliyev to media representatives on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Azerbaijani national press.

"The development of an independent, strong press that meets today's requirements, guided by the interests of the people, and the creation of necessary conditions for its free activity have always been one of the priority tasks facing our state. Systematic work has been regularly carried out in this direction, a regulatory and legal framework has been created aimed at improving the information environment in the country, strengthening the potential and economic foundations of media activities, adapting them to the challenges of the digital era, and radical reforms have been carried out to strengthen the economic independence of information resources and improve the social protection of journalists," noted the head of state.
