On March 5, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili called her Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the phone conversation the ministers discussed the situation resulting from Iranian drone strikes on our country.

Jeyhun Bayramov informed his colleague about the attacks carried out by Iran on March 5 against the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

As a result of the strikes, the terminal building of Nakhchivan airport was damaged, and civilians were injured. Also, one of the drones fell near a school building in the village of Shekerabab.

The minister also emphasized that this attack on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan contradicts the norms and principles of international law and contributes to the escalation of tensions in the region.

It was communicated that the Azerbaijani side demands that Iran clarify the situation regarding the incident as soon as possible, provide appropriate explanations, and take the necessary urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.

Maka Bochorishvili expressed concern over the incident and noted the importance of maintaining stability and security in the region.

During the phone conversation, the parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
