Five years ago Lachin was liberated from occupation
Today is the fifth anniversary of the liberation of the Lachin region from Armenian occupation.
BAKU.WS reminds that in 2020, Azerbaijan achieved a decisive victory over Armenia on the battlefield during the 44-day Patriotic War.
As a continuation of this victory in the political arena, within 20 days after the end of this war, three regions were returned to Azerbaijan - Aghdam on November 20, Kalbajar on November 25, and Lachin on December 1.
The President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, in his address to the people on December 1, 2020, said:
"The brilliant victory achieved on the battlefield led to the return of three regions to us - Aghdam, Kalbajar, and Lachin. We returned these regions without a single shot, without a single martyr."
On August 26, 2022, Azerbaijan, in accordance with the provisions of the November 10 statement, restored control over the city of Lachin, the villages of Zabukh and Sus.
Lachin was occupied by Armenia on May 18, 1992.
