Azerbaijan in the Crosshairs of Russian Disinformation Frenzy

The dream of any state and nation is to have and be proud of a history full of heroic achievements and with a minimum of shameful pages. This desire is quite natural. And if something not so presentable happens, then usually there is a choice: to boldly look into one's past, critically evaluating some of its episodes and even apologizing to someone for them (as, for example, the Germans did in relation to Jews or Americans in relation to descendants of Indian tribes and slaves from Africa), or, on the contrary, try to hide them, keep silent, and if that doesn't work, then surround these shameful pages of one's own history with a large number of fakes and false interpretations that may cover up historical truth and facts.

"The absolute world champions of all times and peoples in this, if I may say so, 'sport' are our neighbors to the west of us, where almost every word in official historiography is either fiction or a distortion of facts beyond recognition.

The second place in the standings, it seems, is confidently beginning to be occupied by another of our neighbors. Their own successes are either exaggerated or completely made up out of thin air. The successes of other peoples are belittled or completely hushed up. The same model of behavior is observed with unsightly episodes of history - their own are hidden or distorted, and the failures of others are exaggerated. As they say, I don't need a cow, let the neighbor's die instead," the material notes.
