On December 10, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, met with an Uzbek delegation headed by the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Viktor Makhmudov, and Defense Minister Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, who are on an official visit to our country.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the guests first visited the Alley of Honor, where they laid wreaths and flowers at the graves of national leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist, scientist, academician Zarifa khanym Aliyeva, honoring their memory.

Then the delegation visited Victory Park, where they laid a wreath at the monument in honor of Victory.

During the official meeting ceremony held at the Ministry of Defense, after passing before the guard of honor, the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were played, and according to protocol, a commemorative entry was made in the "Book of Honorary Guests".

At the meeting of the delegations from the two countries, Colonel-General Z. Hasanov emphasized that bilateral military cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan is based on friendly and brotherly relations.

The heads of the Uzbek delegation noted the importance of bilateral military cooperation in the development and strengthening of the armies of both countries.

At the meeting, a comprehensive exchange of views was held on issues of military, military-technical cooperation and cooperation in the field of military education between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as on a number of other defense issues of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a bilateral military cooperation plan between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026 was signed.

As part of the official visit, the Uzbek delegation also learned about the activities of the main directorates and departments subordinate to the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army, and answers were provided to questions of interest to the guests.
