Azerbaijan and Russia discussed cooperation in the field of combating climate change

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the Assistant to the President of Russia, Special Representative of the President on Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of combating climate change, COP-related issues, as well as regional and international topics of mutual interest were discussed.

Bayramov informed about the experience and results achieved by Azerbaijan within the framework of its COP-29 presidency, about Azerbaijan's close cooperation with Australia, which will hold the COP-31 presidency, and with the host country - Turkey.

The meeting also addressed issues of bilateral cooperation on the Caspian Sea, and the importance of strengthening the activities of the bilateral Working Group established on Caspian Sea issues was emphasized.

The importance of preserving the water resources and unique ecosystem of the Caspian Sea was noted, attention was drawn to the significance of applying innovative technologies in this area, including in the field of agriculture, and the implementation of joint projects.

During the meeting, an exchange of views on other bilateral issues of mutual interest also took place.
