Prices for cars imported into Azerbaijan through Georgia may rise.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Xəzər TV, the draft law prepared by the Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia provides for an increase in a number of fees related to the purchase or re-export of vehicles by foreign citizens. Thus, the cost of transit license plates will increase from 50 to 370 lari (at the current exchange rate - from 32 to 233 manats).

In addition, the fee for preparing an expert report on cars will rise from 100 to 180 lari - from 63 to 113 manats. It is also planned to increase the duty for processing an export customs declaration - from 130 to 200 lari (approximately up to 126 manats).

According to expert Eldeniz Jafarov, the Georgian side intends to take this step against the background of growing demand.

Most of the cars imported from the USA pass through the port of Poti, where the listed procedures are performed. The increase in duties will directly affect end buyers. As a result, a noticeable rise in prices is expected for cars entering Azerbaijan through the territory of Georgia.
