Mikail Jabbarov: Transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Syria – an important stage in the history of export

The beginning of Azerbaijani natural gas exports to Syria through Turkey's territory is a crucial stage in the history of Azerbaijan's energy exports. It has also laid the foundation for a new energy bridge between the South Caucasus and the Middle East.
As reported by Report's correspondent from Kilis, this was stated by Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov at the commissioning ceremony of the Kilis-Aleppo border pipeline, which will ensure the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Syria through Turkey.
According to the minister, the number of countries importing Azerbaijani gas has reached 14, but SOCAR's plans are much more ambitious. Currently, the company is acquiring stakes in foreign gas production projects and plans to supply gas to new consumer countries.
Mikayil Jabbarov, who is also the Chairman of SOCAR's Supervisory Board, spoke about the strategic energy projects implemented by Azerbaijan. He emphasized that these initiatives play an invaluable role in ensuring regional and global energy security.
The minister noted that the start of gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Syria with the opening of the Turkish-Syrian gas pipeline once again demonstrates that the country is a reliable and strategic supplier of energy resources. This project will make a significant contribution to expanding the geography of Azerbaijan's gas exports in new directions.
Syria's Minister of Energy Mohammed Al-Bashir expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan and Turkey for their support in improving the welfare and restoration of Syria, which has suffered from years of war.
Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, in turn, announced the signing of a "swap" agreement with SOCAR, providing for the transfer of Azerbaijani gas at the Turkish-Syrian border. He noted that Azerbaijan, which has always supported Turkey in both sad and joyful days, did not spare its support in this project as well. The minister stated that Azerbaijani natural gas will be exported to Syria through Kilis, and that 6 million cubic meters of natural gas will be transported daily through the "Yavuzlu" measuring station.
Bayraktar reported that after the start of gas exports, power plants in Syria will also begin operating in the near future.
