Mikail Jabbarov: The share of the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan's economy has reached 71.5%
If we look at the structure of the gross domestic product, we can see that more than 71% of the country's economy — namely 71.5% — is accounted for by the non-oil sector. This means that the share of the oil and gas sector is less than 30%.
Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov stated this in an interview with AZERTAJ and İTV.
According to him, the policy pursued over the past 20 years has made it possible to change the structure of the economy in a positive direction.
"If we look back to the period 20 years ago, we will see that this indicator did not even reach 45%, standing at approximately 43.5-43.6%. This demonstrates the path we have traveled. It shows that the policy being pursued is successful. Despite the fact that during these 20 years I mentioned, as you probably remember, the country experienced a fairly serious devaluation shock — one of the deepest in our modern economic history. Despite all of this, a change in the structure of the country's economy has, in a certain sense, taken place," the head of the ministry said.
