London and Baku agreed on the text of a strategic partnership document
The United Kingdom and Azerbaijan have agreed on the text of a strategic partnership document.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, Minister of State for Trade at the UK Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade Lord Anas Sarwar announced this at the 8th meeting of the IGC between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom.
The Minister of State recalled that last year Baku and London agreed to develop relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
"I am pleased to report that we have agreed the text of this partnership, and I look forward to our Prime Minister [Andy Burnham] and President [Ilham Aliyev] of your country meeting to jointly sign this agreement," he said.
According to Sarwar, it is also a great honor for him to co-chair the 8th meeting of the UK-Azerbaijan Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
"This commission meeting takes place at an important moment in the relationship between our two countries, perhaps one of the most significant turning points in our history. Last year, the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan agreed to elevate our relations to a strategic partnership. Since then, our governments have been actively working to fill this agreement and our partnership with real substance," the British minister noted.
