Tariffs for special use of water bodies have been established in Azerbaijan: the fee amount will depend on the water source and the purpose of its use.

BAKU.WS was informed about this by the State Control Service for Water Use and Protection.

The fee amount depends on the type of water body used — the Caspian Sea, rivers, lakes, or underground waters — as well as the purpose of water use. Tariffs are calculated based on the volume of water withdrawn, wastewater discharged, and the area of the water surface used.

The service emphasized that the established tariffs are significantly lower than the current prices for water supply and wastewater disposal through water management facilities.

For the withdrawal of 10,000 liters of water from the Caspian Sea for industrial purposes, a fee of four gepiks is stipulated.

The following tariffs have been established for water withdrawal from rivers and lakes:

· for industrial purposes — four gepiks per 1,000 liters;

· for agriculture and forestry — one gepik per 10,000 liters;

· for fishing and aquaculture — one gepik per 100,000 liters.

The fee for the withdrawal of 1,000 liters of underground water for industrial purposes will be 40 gepiks. For the use of underground water for fishing and aquaculture, the tariff is set at two gepiks per 100,000 liters.

Separate tariffs are stipulated for wastewater discharge. For the discharge of domestic and industrial wastewater into the Caspian Sea, the fee will be one gepik per thousand liters.

For the discharge of 1,000 liters of domestic wastewater into rivers and lakes, one gepik will be charged, and for industrial wastewater — four gepiks.

If wastewater is treated at special facilities to a level meeting the established standards before being discharged into water bodies, the fee is calculated using a reduction coefficient of 0.7.
