IMPORTANT news for citizens regarding pensions and social benefits in Azerbaijan

Next week in Azerbaijan, a significant increase in social benefits and pensions will begin. Important changes will affect the lives of 1.1 million citizens of the republic and are part of strategic work to strengthen the social security system in the country.

As Oxu.Az reports, this was announced by Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Milli Mejlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, at today's parliamentary session.

The deputy emphasized that the documents signed by President Ilham Aliyev clearly demonstrate the priority of social protection of the population and confirm that the principle of ensuring the welfare of citizens is consistently at the center of state policy.

"The new social package covering 3 million citizens is being implemented through increasing pensions for 1.1 million people, as well as salaries for more than 700,000 citizens due to increases in the minimum wage, social benefits, and pensions. Taking into account the new increases, since the beginning of 2018, the minimum wage has increased 3.1 times, and the minimum pension has almost tripled. In the period from 2018 to 2024, benefits and pension payments increased 5 times. This dynamic will continue this year as well. An additional 1.4 billion manats will be allocated for the increase in 2025. This means that since 2020 alone, an additional 8.5 billion manats have been allocated for the implementation of social packages approved by decrees of the President of Azerbaijan," said the deputy.
