IMPORTANT decision regarding labor pensions in Azerbaijan

Revenues of the state budget of Azerbaijan in 2026 are projected at 38.4 billion manats, expenditures - 41.5 billion manats. The deficit will amount to 3.1 billion manats, which is 2.4% higher than the current year's figures.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by economist and Milli Mejlis deputy Vugar Bayramov.
According to him, in the draft budget, the price of one barrel of oil is set at 65 dollars. The parliamentarian noted that this figure cannot be called conservative, considering the forecasts of international organizations, where the price range is estimated at 50-60 dollars.
Bayramov emphasized that one of the positive aspects is the growth in the share of non-oil and gas revenues - it will reach a record 57.4% compared to 52.3% in 2025. This, according to him, indicates further diversification of the economy and reduced dependence on the oil sector.
The expenditure structure for 2026 provides for:
-
8.7 billion manats - for defense and national security;
-
7.6 billion manats - for economic activities;
-
4.8 billion manats - for social protection and welfare (an increase of 121 million manats, or 2.54% compared to 2025).
In total, social expenditures will exceed 40% of the overall budget.
The deputy added that from January 2026, all types of labor pensions will be indexed and increased, which will affect about 1.1 million citizens of the country.
