Euronews Turkish: Syria became the 14th country to which Azerbaijan supplies natural gas

Our energy partnership is strengthening, and SOCAR is becoming a larger player on the international arena.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Euronews Turkish, this was stated by the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov.
M. Jabbarov also noted that the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic SOCAR is gaining increasing influence in regional and global energy markets.
According to the minister, the supplies of Azerbaijani natural gas to Syria through the city of Kilis (Turkey) that began on August 2 became another step in expanding Azerbaijan's energy diplomacy. With the start of exports to Syria, this country became the 14th to receive Azerbaijani gas through various pipelines.
The opening of the Turkey-Syria gas pipeline took place on Saturday in the city of Kilis, just 7 km from the Syrian border. The ceremony was attended by Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Qatar Development Fund President Fahad Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir, and Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.
"This makes Azerbaijan an increasingly significant global energy supplier," said M. Jabbarov. He emphasized that reliable energy supply plays a key role in the process of restoration and normalization of Syria's economy. Azerbaijani gas, according to him, will ensure more stable electricity production and meet the needs of millions of people.
The minister also noted that the project is not only commercial but also diplomatic in nature, opening a new page in bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Syria. He recalled the earlier meetings of the presidents of the two countries in Antalya and Baku.
Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized that the implementation of the gas project was made possible thanks to the strategic partnership and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. He expressed gratitude for the active support of both countries, as well as the government of Qatar, which played an important role in this process.
