Azerbaijan has completed the preparation of a new version of the law "On Tourism," the need for which arose against the backdrop of rapid changes in the country's tourism sector.

As Report informs, this was announced by Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau Florian Sengstschmid at the event "Unlocking Azerbaijan's Tourism Potential for Economic Growth and Diversification" in Baku.

He noted that despite the contribution of the law "On Tourism," adopted in 2021, to the development of the sector, at the current stage the need for its improvement has arisen.

"Based on our assessment, taking into account the processes of the past year, updating the law has become a necessity. The draft is already ready and awaits submission for discussion in the government," F. Sengstschmid emphasized.

The bureau chairman recalled that since 2018, consistent reforms have been implemented in Azerbaijan to create a competitive tourism ecosystem. As part of these measures, a standardization system, star classification of hotels, guide certification mechanisms have already been introduced, and a Hotel Association has been established.
