Meeting of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Moscow with US leader's special representative Steve Whitcoff and entrepreneur Jared Kushner lasted about four hours.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, this was told to journalists by the Russian President's aide for international affairs Yuri Ushakov.

According to him, the American side informed Putin about the meeting of the Presidents of the United States and Ukraine in Davos.

"The interlocutors, as is known, arrived from Davos, where literally until their departure to Moscow they participated in a series of events together with their President Donald Trump, including those related to the Ukrainian settlement," shared the diplomat.

The parties agreed to hold on January 23 in Abu Dhabi the first meeting of the trilateral working group Russia - USA - Ukraine on security issues.

"The Americans, it must be admitted, have done a lot to prepare for it, and they hope that this meeting [in Abu Dhabi] will be successful and will open prospects for progress on the whole range of issues related to the end of the conflict and reaching an agreement on a peaceful settlement," said the Russian President's aide.

Ushakov reported that the Russian delegation will be headed by the Chief of the Main Directorate (GRU) of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov.

"The bilateral Russian-American working group on economic issues will hold a meeting today in Abu Dhabi - along with the trilateral Russian-American-Ukrainian one. It will be headed by the special representative of the Russian President Kirill Dmitriev and the special envoy of the US President Steven Whitcoff," noted Yuri Ushakov.

The meeting in the Kremlin also discussed the "Peace Council," Greenland, and other issues.

According to Ushakov, the Russian side stated that it does not consider it possible to establish a long-term peace in Ukraine without resolving the territorial issue, and will continue to pursue its goals on the battlefield.

Overall, he called the meeting useful in all respects for both Russia and the United States: "The four-hour negotiations in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American emissaries were in all senses useful for both sides, Moscow and Washington will continue close contacts".
