Weather forecasters warned the neighboring country about approaching snowfalls and frosts
The Turkish Meteorological Service (MGM) announced a serious change in weather conditions across the country in the coming days.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TRT Haber, according to the latest forecasts from the department, a powerful cold air flow moving from the Balkans and Siberia will begin to affect Turkey from Monday.
According to available information, temperature indicators, which currently exceed seasonal norms, will first approach normal levels on the weekend, and at the beginning of the new week will sharply decrease to winter levels.
Thus, on Saturday, precipitation will begin in the form of rain in the regions of the Marmara Sea and the Aegean coast. From Sunday evening, rain is expected to turn into sleet and snow in the inland regions of Anatolia and the Black Sea coast.
It is reported that on Monday cold air will cover the entire territory of the country, with particularly heavy snowfalls expected in cities such as Ankara, Eskisehir, Bolu and Erzurum.
Heavy rains are expected in Istanbul on the weekend. The north-direction wind is forecasted to reach storm force. It is noted that on Monday the temperature in the city will drop to single digits, and wet snow is possible in mountainous areas.
In Ankara, precipitation, which will begin on Sunday, will turn into snow as night falls. A warning has been issued that in the first days of the new week, nighttime temperatures may drop to -5, and in some places even to -8 degrees.
It is noted that the air temperature will remain below seasonal norms until the end of next week.
