The purpose of the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is to stop the conflict in Ukraine.

As reported by RBC, this was stated by US President Donald Trump.

"I will tell him, 'You must stop this war,'" Trump said.

The American president called the upcoming meeting a "trial" and expressed hope for a constructive conversation. He admitted that the meeting with Putin could be either "good" or "bad." According to the White House head, he will understand whether it is possible to make a deal in the first two minutes of the meeting.

Trump did not rule out that he might decide to stop mediation efforts, but in this case, in his opinion, there would be no settlement. "I can walk away and say: 'Good luck!' and that's it. I can say that it will not be settled. There are those who believe that Putin wanted all of Ukraine. By the way, I am one of them. I think if it weren't for me, he wouldn't even be talking to anyone right now. But I'm going to meet with him. We will discuss the parameters [of the deal]. And then I will call President [of Ukraine] Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders," said the US President.

Ultimately, Trump noted, he wants to organize a meeting between the leaders of the conflicting countries - Putin and Zelensky. The White House head suggested that he might also participate in this meeting "if needed." "In the end, I will bring both of them into a room [for negotiations]. Maybe I'll be there, maybe not. And, I think, [the conflict] will be resolved," the US President stated.

In addition, according to him, during the negotiations on Ukraine, there may be an exchange of territories. The head of the American administration emphasized that the US will try to return part of the territories to Ukraine, adding that the deal should be beneficial to both sides. "There will be an exchange of land for the benefit of Ukraine. But there will also be bad things for both sides... We will change the front line," he said.
