Trump announced a possible special forces landing in Iran if negotiations fail

US President Donald Trump suggested that if negotiations between Washington and Tehran fail "in substance," the American side could organize a special forces landing on the territory of the Islamic republic to accomplish military objectives.

"There are two options. Either we go in [to Iran's territory] and deal with what couldn't be dealt with by military means before, or we just maintain the blockade of Iran, because that turned out to be more powerful than any military attack," Trump told the Financial Times.

The head of the White House also noted that, in his opinion, the current escalation between Israel and Iran should not affect the negotiation process between Washington and Tehran.

"It won't affect the deal at all. <...> I think the deal will happen. We'll see what happens next," Trump added.
