New details have emerged about the UAV attack on the cargo vessel Royal Məmmədov, which was transporting grain from Ukraine to Italy under the Turkish flag, approximately 20 miles off the coast of Romania.
As reported by BakuPost, the ship's crew consisted of 13 people in total. Of them, 11 were citizens of Azerbaijan and two were citizens of India.
According to the information, the vessel was attacked by two UAVs. One of the drones struck the captain's bridge — the control center, and the other hit the kitchen compartment. As a result of the attack, the captain and the cook were killed.
It is noted that the captain's name was Rustam. Although his body was successfully evacuated, the body of the cook, who was a resident of the Masalli district, remained on the sunken vessel.
It is reported that eight crew members who were injured during the incident are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. The others were discharged after an initial medical examination.
