The Supreme Leader and President of Iran expressed condolences over the death of the IRGC Navy commander
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and President of the Islamic Republic Masoud Pezeshkian expressed condolences over the death of the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri.
"The brave and courageous commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, after many years of struggle, was awarded the title of martyr. I congratulate and express condolences to his family, comrades-in-arms, and the command staff of the Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps," Khamenei's press service quoted him as saying.
As Pezeshkian stated, Tangsiri "strengthened the power of the IRGC Navy in the azure waters of the Persian Gulf so that on days like these, they would be a mighty barrier against invaders and aggressors and courageously defend the foundations of the Islamic Republic of Iran." His words were cited by the presidential press service.
On March 26, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced Tangsiri's death. Today, March 30, the IRGC confirmed his death.
