President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan signed the law on initiating the process of the republic's accession to the European Union.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Armenian media, this was announced by the press service of the presidential office.

"The President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan signed the law on initiating the process of the Republic of Armenia's accession to the EU on April 4," the statement says.

Deputies of the Armenian parliament on March 26 during the second and final reading adopted the law on initiating the process of the republic's accession to the European Union. Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that this would not mean an automatic launch of the process of Yerevan's accession to the community, as this issue requires a referendum. In turn, the Foreign Minister of the republic Ararat Mirzoyan explained that the bill was a public initiative that gathered the necessary number of signatures.
