The Kremlin reacted to reports about the detection of plague in Russia

Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor are handling the infection situation in the Irkutsk region.

This was stated by the official Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the widely circulated information about the detection of plague in the Irkutsk region.

According to him, the infection situation in the region is being handled by Rospotrebnadzor, whose competence includes this matter.

The Kremlin spokesperson urged, in connection with the situation in the Irkutsk region, to rely not on rumors and speculation, but on information from Rospotrebnadzor specialists.

It should be noted that following the death of a 28-year-old laboratory employee of the Anti-Plague Institute in Russia's Irkutsk region, approximately 200 people were placed under medical observation due to suspected plague. It is reported that a three-week quarantine has been imposed in some hospitals.

At the same time, Rospotrebnadzor has not confirmed the diagnosis of "plague."
