The death toll from the earthquake in Venezuela has exceeded 3,500

The death toll from a series of powerful earthquakes in Venezuela continues to rise.

As reported by BAKU.WS, citing official government data, the number of victims has already reached 3,535 people.

According to the latest information, the number of injured has approached 17,000. Around 18,000 more residents were left homeless and forced to evacuate their homes.

Authorities have set up 80 temporary shelters in Caracas and La Guaira, where more than 12,000 people are currently housed. According to preliminary estimates, approximately 60,000 buildings have been completely destroyed or sustained serious damage.

As a reminder, the country was struck by two strong earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. Following the main tremors, seismologists recorded approximately 995 aftershocks, which significantly complicated rescue operations.

Meanwhile, new tragic details of the disaster's aftermath have emerged. According to the New York Post, rescuers discovered the bodies of 23-year-old beauty pageant winner Scarlent Rodriguez and her fiancé José Castro under the rubble of a collapsed residential building.
