The indictment against the arrested former mayor of Turkish Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu notes that mining sites in the Cebeci region were illegally transformed into extraction zones, and forest territories, according to satellite images, suffered serious damage.

According to the information, E.Imamoglu and his subordinates, exerting pressure and threats, seized plots for subsoil use, and illegal income from extraction was redirected to special companies close to them.
It is noted that their covert activities were uncovered through comparative analysis of satellite images. Images of the territories for the period from 2022 to 2025 were studied, resulting in the revelation of the scale of damage caused by illegal excavations.
