Putin confirmed Russia's readiness to supply diesel to the US
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, confirmed Russia's readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and global markets.
This was stated in a declaration by the Russian leader published on the Kremlin's website.
Significant attention in the conversation was devoted to the prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis; the situation surrounding Iran and various aspects of bilateral relations were also discussed, the statement said.
"During the discussion of the state of affairs in global energy, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and global markets. I am confident that this will have a positive impact on the entire global economy," Putin stated.
In addition, an agreement was reached to continue personal contacts between the presidents, as well as cooperation through presidential administrations, special services, and other agencies.
Earlier, on October 9, President Trump reported that during the conversation with Putin, an agreement was reached on the delivery of more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel to the American and global market, another 500,000 tonnes in November, 1,000,000 tonnes immediately after that, and an additional 3,000,000 tonnes in a short timeframe depending on the condition of Russian refineries.
On the same day, the US Treasury Department issued General License No. 135, authorizing transactions related to the sale, delivery, unloading, and import of diesel fuel of Russian origin, including imports into the United States. The license is valid until April 7, 2027, and does not authorize the debiting of accounts of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the National Wealth Fund, and the Russian Ministry of Finance in American financial institutions.
