Pashinyan: Until August 8, 2025, our state was at a dead end

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan made a publication dedicated to the anniversary of the trilateral meeting with the leaders of Azerbaijan and the United States, held on August 8, 2025, at the White House.

The head of government noted in his publication that as a result of the trilateral meeting, peace was established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"Now we already refer to the August 8 meeting as the Peace Summit, and the joint declaration adopted there by me and the President of Azerbaijan, which was also signed by the President of the United States as a witness, as the Peace Declaration. These names fully express the result that August 8, 2025 brought about. The peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan is visible and tangible for everyone.

In the parliamentary elections on June 7, 2026, the citizens of Armenia not only cast a vote of confidence in peace but also stood in defense of peace. This, of course, does not mean that we have reached the final point on the path of implementing the peace agenda.

The 'Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan,' preliminarily initialed on August 8, 2025, in Washington in the presence of the three leaders by the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, awaits its signing and ratification, and the delimitation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan has yet to take place," Pashinyan noted.

The head of government noted in his publication that the date of August 8, 2025, is a turning point for his country, and the history of the Republic of Armenia can be divided into periods before and after this date.

"Before August 8, 2025, our state was at a dead end, and after that date, boundless prospects opened up before us, and whether we take advantage of them or not depends on our collective will, on our knowledge, and on our ability to study the world and our history. This is precisely the greatest political and socio-psychological result of the Washington Peace Summit: the steering wheel of our history is once again in our hands. This does not mean that the path is ideal and free of dangers; it means that it is precisely our decisions that are the primary factor determining our further destiny, and this is a historic turning point," Pashinyan stated.

The Prime Minister also wrote about one of the most important results of the Washington meeting — the project "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP). He noted that this project will not only put an end to the blockade of Armenia in the very near future, will not only become the backbone of the economy of the republic and the region, but will also help Armenia and Azerbaijan begin to perceive each other not as an obstacle but as a road, as a neighbor: "In the near future, we will begin the practical implementation of the TRIPP project, and this will become a major regional and international event."

"The page of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been closed, peace has been established, and here it is before your eyes — it is your life and your everyday reality. Establishing any kind of peace is not easy, and establishing our peace was not easy either. But destroying and nullifying any peace is extremely easy, and it can be done very quickly, and the question is whether it would be possible to establish peace again after 35 years in such a case," Pashinyan noted.
