Italian police exposed an inventive employee of a gold smelting company who established a unique scheme for stealing precious metal from his workplace. The perpetrator used his lush hair as a hiding place for the stolen goods.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Repubblica, the cunning scam was uncovered after a routine document check at a gold buying point. When the 38-year-old man could not clearly explain the origin of the valuables, he surrendered and handed over to the police a gold strip weighing 250 grams, valued at 23 thousand euros. Subsequent searches at the suspect's home revealed additional reserves of stolen metal, after which the man confessed to a series of thefts for which he used his long dreadlocks.

During questioning, the Italian revealed that until January he had worked at a jewelry factory in Switzerland, from where he regularly took out gold, successfully bypassing security systems with metal detectors. The criminal discovered that the security equipment's detection zone did not extend to the level of his hair, which allowed him to remain undetected. Over the course of a year, the enterprising worker managed to steal almost two kilograms of gold with a total value of about 150 thousand euros.
