General mobilization declared in Yemen

The internationally recognized government of Yemen has declared a general mobilization in the republic to confront the rebel movement "Ansar Allah" (Houthis).

This was reported by the Yemeni government news agency SABA.

"The House of Representatives has resolved to approve the request of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (Rashad al-Alimi - ed.) to declare a general mobilization," the legislative body's statement said. The measure takes effect from the moment of its announcement and will remain in force until the reasons that prompted its adoption are eliminated.

According to the document, the mobilization is declared to "counter the escalation by the Houthis, protect citizens, defend the republican system, and preserve the sovereignty of the state."

The parliamentarians called on political forces to set aside disagreements and emphasized the importance of coordinating actions with the Arabian coalition led by Saudi Arabia.
