Denis Shmyhal: Kyiv Counts on New Projects with Baku in the Energy Sector
Ukraine is interested in further developing cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector and implementing new joint projects.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal wrote about this on social media platform X.
According to him, during the visit to Azerbaijan this week, the Ukrainian delegation visited the production facility of ATEF Group, which manufactures transformer equipment.
"With the company's management, we discussed preparations for the upcoming heating season and the needs of Ukraine's energy system. Key priorities include transformers, generators, as well as building a reserve of critically important equipment for rapid restoration of energy facilities after potential Russian attacks," the minister noted.
Shmyhal reported that the parties also discussed issues of energy infrastructure protection: "We are seeking new solutions and technologies to enhance the resilience of energy facilities and discussed possible engineering approaches in this area."
The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan remains an "important partner" of Ukraine in the energy sector. According to him, during the most difficult period last winter, the Azerbaijani side provided Ukraine with generators, transformers, cable products, and other critically important equipment.
"In total (since 2022 - ed.) Azerbaijan has announced 11 packages of energy assistance to Ukraine," he wrote.
Shmyhal also expressed gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for consistent support of Ukraine and assistance in strengthening the resilience of Ukraine's energy system.
