China tightens requirements for vehicle exports
World 0

Starting from 2027, manufacturers will be required to guarantee the ability to service vehicles outside of China, including repairs and spare parts supply.

As reported by Kommersant, it will become more difficult to import currently popular models of global brands.

Starting from 2026, exporting a vehicle of any brand from China without the manufacturer's permission will only be possible if the car has been registered in China for more than 180 days. After that, the car is considered used even with zero mileage. To import a new car, the factory's consent is required.

Starting from 2027, manufacturers will need to confirm the existence of a network of overseas service centers in order to export. And, as media report, the authorities may even require documents, staff information, and photographs of equipment for this purpose.
